About this product
The Fjällräven High Coast Hydratic Trousers offer reliable wet-weather protection in a lightweight, versatile shell design suited to everyday commutes and summer hiking alike. Built from 100% recycled polyamide with a polyurethane coating and PFC-free impregnation, the 2.5-layer Hydratic construction delivers a 10,000 mm water column rating alongside a breathability of 6,000 g/m²/24h, keeping moisture out without trapping heat. At just 267 g (measured in size M), these full-leg trousers sit at a mid waist and are cut to a comfort fit, with the model shown at 186 cm wearing a size 48. Three-quarter-length side zippers serve double duty, enabling ventilation on warmer days and making the trousers easy to pull on and off. Velcro adjustments at the calves and leg endings allow a tailored fit, which is particularly practical for cycling. The elasticated waist with a drawcord rounds out the adjustability. Leg endings are fixed length, and the trousers have no pre-shaped knees or boot hooks.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Fjällräven High Coast Hydratic Trousers for their lightweight, soft feel and notably quiet fabric that avoids the crinkly texture common to shell pants. The waterproofing (10,000mm hydrostatic head) and PFC-free, recycled construction earn frequent approval, and the full-length side zips are highlighted as a practical convenience for pulling the trousers on and off over boots. The relaxed comfort fit and Velcro calf adjustments are also well regarded. The most common criticism centers on breathability: the 2.5-layer PU construction is considered less effective at venting moisture during high-output activity compared to traditional membrane shells. The premium price point is also a recurring concern, with some reviewers questioning the value given the waterproofing level. A minor complaint is the absence of a boot hook to keep the trousers securely in place.
