About this product

The MSR Footprint Universal 1 Large (Part #13009) is a ground cloth designed to protect the floor of compatible one-person MSR tents, helping to keep it clean, dry, and shielded from abrasion and general wear over time. It fits the Elixir 1, FreeLite 1, Thru Hiker Mesh House 1, Access 1, Zoic 1, and Hubba Tour 1 models. The footprint measures 83 x 32 inches (211 x 81 cm), covering the full floor area of these shelters. Construction uses 68D Taffeta Polyester with a 1200mm polyurethane coating and a DWR finish, providing a durable moisture barrier between the tent floor and the ground. At just 8 oz (227 g), it adds minimal weight to a pack, making it a practical addition for backpackers and thru-hikers who want to extend the service life of their tent investment. The footprint is offered in red.

What people are saying

Reviewers generally find the MSR Footprint Universal 1 Large does its core job well, praising its lightweight build, durable DWR-coated polyester material, and effective floor protection against moisture and abrasion. Those who pair it with a compatible MSR tent (such as the Access 1 or Zoic 1) report a good fit and easy corner stake-out setup. The most common complaints center on the lack of integrated corner grommets, which makes attaching the footprint to tent poles awkward and prevents use as a fly-and-footprint combo. A recurring concern is that if the footprint extends beyond the tent perimeter, it can channel rainwater underneath rather than deflecting it. Some buyers also note confusion around sizing, occasionally ordering the wrong variant for their tent model.
