About this product

The MSR Footprint Universal 4 Regular is a ground cloth designed to protect the floor of compatible MSR tents, including the Elixir 4, Front Range with Bug Insert, and Zoic 4. By sitting between the tent floor and the ground, it helps keep the floor clean, dry, and shielded from abrasion and general wear over time. The footprint is constructed from 68D Taffeta Polyester with a 1200mm polyurethane coating and a DWR finish, providing a reliable moisture barrier underfoot. Its square floor dimensions of 87 by 87 inches (221 by 221 cm) are sized to match the four-person tent models it supports. At 13 oz (369 g), it adds relatively little to a pack load while meaningfully extending the usable life of the tent floor. A practical accessory for campers who want to preserve their investment across multiple seasons of use.

What people are saying

Reviewers across the MSR Universal Footprint line generally appreciate the lightweight, durable construction and the straightforward protection it provides for tent floors against moisture and wear. Those who get the right size for their tent report that it fits well and does its job without fuss. However, the most common and recurring complaint is the absence of corner grommets, which means the footprint cannot attach securely to tent poles and simply sits loose under the tent, making setup awkward. Some users also note that the "universal" sizing can be imprecise, with the footprint running slightly small or large depending on the specific tent model. Packing it back into the included stuff sack is another frustration mentioned by multiple buyers, as MSR provides no folding instructions. Overall sentiment is mixed, sitting around a mid-range rating, with the footprint seen as functional but basic for its price.
