About this product

The Mammut Nirvana 28 is a women-specific snow sports backpack built for freeriding and lift-supported ski touring. At 28 liters of capacity, it measures 48 cm tall, 28 cm wide, and 20 cm deep, with a total weight of 1,030 g. The shell is constructed from 90% polyamide and 10% polyester, with recycled main materials and a PFC-free DWR finish, and carries both bluesign and Fair Wear certifications. A 270-degree rear zipper opens the full back panel for easy access to the main compartment, while a dedicated front pocket keeps avalanche safety equipment organized and immediately reachable. An internal sleeve accommodates a compatible back protector, and the pack supports hydration system use. Skis and splitboards attach via diagonal or A-frame carrying systems, and a snowboard attachment is also included, along with an integrated helmet carrier. The women-specific fit features adapted shoulder straps, a tailored hip belt, and a shorter back length for comfort and mobility. An SOS label with emergency instructions is sewn in for added safety.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Mammut Nirvana 28 Women's for its excellent organization, including a wide-opening 270-degree zippered back panel for easy gear access, a dedicated avalanche safety compartment, a soft-lined goggle pocket, and versatile ski and snowboard attachment options. Its use of durable, recycled, PFC-free materials and its women-specific fit with adapted shoulder straps and a tailored hip belt are also frequently highlighted positives. The most common criticism is that the pack lacks adequate structural support for heavier loads, with expert reviewers noting the absence of an internal frame or framesheet causes the pack to sag, feel top-heavy, and shift on the descent. Most agree it performs well for light, lift-accessed outings but falls short for full-day backcountry tours.
