About this product
The Outdoor Research Freewheel Half Zip Hoodie Plus is a women's cycling-specific layer built for gravel riding and mountain biking in variable conditions. Its shell is made from 92% recycled nylon and 8% spandex, a Bluesign-approved fabric blend that is breathable, water-resistant, and wind-resistant while offering a UPF 40 to 50+ rating that blocks roughly 97.5% of UVA and UVB radiation. The stretch construction mirrors body movement on the bike, and the standard fit is refined with articulated cuffs and a drop-tail hem measuring 76.2 cm at the back for coverage while riding in a forward position. The absence of top shoulder seams keeps the fit comfortable under a backpack, and a single side zippered pocket provides secure storage. A low-profile hood and half-zip collar round out the design. The hoodie is manufactured in Viet Nam and comes in black.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Outdoor Research Freewheel Half Zip Hoodie for its bike-specific fit, calling it ideal for cool-weather riding in spring and fall. The brushed interior is frequently highlighted as soft and comfortable against the skin, and the hoodie earns strong marks for wind protection and breathability during climbs and descents. The drop-tail hem, helmet-compatible hood, and articulated cuffs are noted as genuinely useful design details. The most common criticisms center on the single chest pocket being awkward to access when wearing a hip pack, some users finding the fit snug through the shoulders, and a few wishing for a full-zip design for easier on-and-off. The hoodie is also noted as heavier and less packable than comparable options.
