About this product
The Patagonia R1 Ultralight Hoodie is a women's technical midlayer built around a 4.6-oz 100% recycled polyester flat-faced double knit, weighing just 220 g (7.76 oz). Its lofty, breathable weave delivers next-to-skin comfort while the smooth outer face resists abrasion, and the form fit supports easy layering under a harness or jacket. The helmet-compatible hood adds targeted warmth, and a deep center-front zip allows quick ventilation or full removal even with stiff shoulders or a helmet on. Raglan seams reduce pack pressure on the shoulders, and underarm gussets extend reach overhead without restriction. Two vertical-zippered chest pockets keep small essentials accessible without adding bulk. Low-profile cuffs with full wrist coverage can be pushed up easily, and the hem is cut long enough to stay tucked under a harness. Care is straightforward: machine wash warm, tumble dry low, no bleach. Produced in a Fair Trade Certified factory in Viet Nam, meaning workers received a premium for their labor. Available in Faded Magenta.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Patagonia R1 Ultralight Hoodie for its impressive breathability, excellent warmth-to-weight ratio, and next-to-skin comfort thanks to its brushed interior. The helmet-compatible hood, deep half-zip for easy venting, and abrasion-resistant outer face are frequently highlighted as standout features, making it a favorite for climbing, backcountry skiing, and high-output hiking. Long-term owners also note exceptional durability. The most common criticisms center on the snug, form-fitting cut, which some find restrictive and recommend sizing up, and the limited wind and water resistance. A few users feel the price is hard to justify given how narrow the use case can be for lower-output or casual wear.
