About this product
The North Face EG Tek Approach Jacket is a men's hybrid soft-shell designed for active use in variable conditions. Its body is constructed from a 75D 177g/m² WindWall fabric made of 91% recycled polyester and 9% elastane, delivering wind resistance alongside four-way stretch. A non-PFC durable water-repellent finish adds a layer of weather protection without the use of traditional fluorochemicals. Hood and underarm panels use a 150D 240g/m² 100% recycled polyester knit fleece with FlashDry technology to accelerate moisture movement, while the hand pocket linings also feature FlashDry for added comfort. The regular fit jacket measures 27 inches (68.6 cm) at the center back and includes a scuba hood with binding, a bonded secure-zip chest pocket, exposed reverse-coil-zip hand pockets, thumbholes at the cuffs, and an internal drawcord hem for adjustability. Customers note it tends to run slightly small. All three fabric zones use recycled materials throughout.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the North Face TNF EG Tek Approach Jacket for its standout breathability, with the inner grid fleece allowing heat to escape during high-output activities like hiking and cycling. The soft, comfortable feel against the skin and lightweight packability are frequently highlighted, as is the versatility for multisport use and casual wear. The fit is generally reported as true to size, and the styling earns consistent compliments. The most common criticism is limited weather protection: the hoodless design lets rain and snow reach the head and neck, and the DWR finish handles only very light precipitation. A few users also noted durability concerns, including material peeling after light use, which some felt was disappointing for the price point.
