About this product
The Black Diamond Alpine Hybrid Pants are a men's mountain pant designed for technical terrain such as chimney climbs and ridge scrambles. Two distinct shell fabrics work together to balance mobility and toughness: a four-way stretch woven with a GTT Empel finish (188gsm, 85% nylon, 15% elastane) covers the primary panels, while a heavier high-durability nylon blend stretch woven (220gsm, 49% polyester, 48% nylon, 3% elastane) reinforces the knees and seat where abrasion is greatest. The Empel finish delivers a PFAS-free DWR treatment that resists moisture without relying on per- and polyfluoroalkyl chemistry. A regular fit with a predominantly straight cut accommodates midlayers comfortably, and articulated knees plus a gusseted inseam support a full range of movement. An adjustable webbing belt with an updated buckle handles waist fit, while two front zip pockets and a right-side zip pocket provide secure storage. The inseam measures 32 inches (81.3 cm), and the pants are made in Indonesia.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Black Diamond Alpine Hybrid Pants for their four-way stretch fabric, articulated knees, and reinforced seat and knee panels, which hold up well against rock abrasion during climbing and scrambling. The DWR finish earns positive marks for shedding light precipitation and wind. Most users find the fit athletic and low-profile under a harness or pack. The most common complaints center on sizing limitations: the pants run short for taller wearers, only one inseam length is offered, and the thighs can feel tight on more muscular builds. Some users also wish for side zip vents for better temperature regulation, and a few note the non-removable integrated belt as a minor annoyance. Overall, reviewers consider these a strong choice for alpine climbing and glacier travel, though less ideal for hot or low-elevation use.
