About this product
The Ortovox Peak Light 30 S is a high-alpine pack built for technical mountain objectives where weight and versatility matter. At 1,210 g (2.67 lbs) with a 30-liter capacity, it strikes a practical balance between carrying volume and minimal bulk. The front panel is constructed from 50% recycled Polyamide 420D Ripstop, while the remainder of the pack uses fully recycled Polyamide 420D throughout. The short-length fit is complemented by a removable hip belt, a chest strap with integrated signal whistle, and a removable back reinforcement. Ortovox's Swisswool TEC KNIT back system incorporates wool for natural climate regulation against the spine. Ski-carrying options include both side (A-Skifix) and diagonal (D-Skifix) configurations, and two ice axe fixations handle technical tool storage. Additional organizational features include a lid compartment with key holder, a valuables compartment with key clip, a map compartment, a helmet net, gear loops, and a rope attachment point. The pack is hydration system compatible and finished with water-resistant circumferential zippers.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Ortovox Peak Light 30 S for its impressive lightweight construction paired with genuine durability, thanks to the abrasion-resistant Nylon 420D Oxford fabric. The Swisswool Tec-Knit back system draws repeated attention for keeping the pack comfortable and moisture-managed even on strenuous ascents. The short (S) back length is well regarded by smaller-framed users as a proper fit solution. The ability to strip away the hip belt, lid, and frame to cut weight by roughly 30% is highlighted as a standout feature. The most common criticism, noted across the Peak Light line, is the lack of a dedicated avalanche safety compartment and the absence of a back-panel zipper, which can make accessing gear awkward when skis are mounted. Ventilation is also flagged as limited, making the pack less ideal for warm-weather use.
