About this product
The Outdoor Research Men's Ferrosi Hoodie is a 3-season layering piece built for hiking, climbing, and backpacking. It is constructed from a bluesign-approved 86% nylon (46% recycled) and 14% spandex 90-denier stretch woven ripstop fabric, which delivers a combination of abrasion resistance, breathability, and movement-mirroring stretch in a lightweight package. The material is also quick-drying, water resistant, wind resistant, and rated UPF 50+ for sun protection. The design has been updated with new lines and no DuraPrint overlays, keeping the silhouette clean and streamlined. Practical features include an adjustable and stowable hood, a drawcord-adjustable hem, and stretchy wrist cuffs for a secure fit. Storage is handled by a zip chest pocket, zip hand pockets, and a left-hand pocket that doubles as a stuff sack for compact packing. Available here in Medium, Gravel/Khaki colorway (model 322477).

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Ferrosi Hoodie for its exceptional breathability, impressive stretch, and versatility across high-output activities like climbing, trail running, cycling, and backpacking. Its lightweight, packable design (the left pocket doubles as a stuff sack) and UPF 50+ sun protection are frequently highlighted as standout features. Expert testers and everyday users alike call it one of the best values in the softshell category, often comparing it favorably to jackets costing significantly more. The most common criticism is limited weather protection: the DWR-only treatment wets out in heavy or prolonged rain, and some reviewers note that strong wind gusts can break through. A few users also flag that it runs athletically snug and is best suited to mild, three-season conditions rather than cold or stormy days.
