About this product
The North Face Men's ThermoBall Hooded Jacket is a versatile insulated layer built for conditions ranging from urban commutes to mountain approaches. Its ThermoBall insulation (11g/ft² of 100% post-consumer recycled polyester) is engineered to retain warmth even when damp, addressing one of the key limitations of traditional down. The outer shell is a lightweight 20D 44g/m² WindWall fabric made from 100% recycled polyester, treated with a non-PFC durable water-repellent finish for added moisture resistance. The 30D 52g/m² recycled polyester lining completes a fully recycled material stack. An updated quilting pattern reduces cold spots, and the regular fit sits at a 26.5-inch center back length. Practical details include an adjustable cinch-cord hood, a center-front Vislon zip with an internal draft flap and chin guard, secure-zip hand pockets, encased-elastic cuffs, and a hem cinch cord. The jacket packs into its own hand pocket for easy transport. It is also part of The North Face's Circular Design program, meaning it is built to be disassembled and recycled at end of life.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the North Face ThermoBall Hooded Jacket for its impressive warmth-to-weight ratio, noting that it feels surprisingly light while delivering solid insulation for cool to cold conditions. Its ability to retain warmth even in damp or wet weather, thanks to the synthetic ThermoBall insulation, is a recurring highlight. The packability and clean, versatile styling make it a popular pick for travel, casual wear, and layering. The most common criticisms center on fit, with many users noting the jacket runs slim and can restrict movement in the shoulders and chest, prompting a size-up recommendation. Expert reviewers also flag that it is heavier and less compressible than competing down jackets, and breathability is limited during high-output activities. Some find the shell fabric feels slightly unrefined for the price point, and a few note the absence of an interior chest pocket.
