About this product
The Black Crows Freebird Xpore Jacket is a men's ski touring shell built around a PFC-free, three-layer Xpore mechanical stretch fabric composed of 58% recycled polyester and 42% polyester. Fully seam-sealed construction and a waterproof Aquaguard YKK front zip deliver solid rain protection, while the breathable membrane helps manage output during high-exertion touring. The exterior keeps a low-profile look, contrasting with yellow Freebird interior detailing and chevron-patterned seam tape. An attached helmet-compatible hood features a stand-up collar adjustable at a single rear point. Storage is well considered, with two large chest pockets and a security pocket under a flap, sleeve skipass pockets, front zip vents, and internal mesh lycra pockets, all closed with water-repellent YKK zippers. Hidden elastic cuffs and a silicone-banded hem round out the fit. Customers report the sizing runs true to size. The jacket is designed to balance low weight, comfort, and durability for demanding backcountry objectives.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Black Crows Freebird Xpore Jacket for its impressive combination of light weight, packability, and genuine touring performance. The 3-layer Xpore membrane earns strong marks for waterproofing and breathability, and the slim, athletic fit is noted as true to size with room for layering. Thoughtful details like skin-friendly pockets, elastic cuffs, and a helmet-compatible hood are frequently highlighted. The most common criticisms center on the minimalist pocket layout (chest pockets only, no hand pockets), the front chest vents being considered less effective than underarm pit zips, and the fabric feeling slightly stiff or crinkly compared to more supple alternatives. The high price is also a recurring concern, though most reviewers consider it justified for a dedicated touring shell.
