About this product
The Black Crows Freebird Xpore Pant is a ski touring shell built around a PFC-free, three-layer Xpore mechanical stretch fabric composed of 58% recycled polyester and 42% polyester. The construction is fully seam-sealed and carries a rain protection rating of 4, while a breathability rating of 2 keeps the focus on weather resistance during sustained effort in the mountains. The exterior maintains a restrained look, contrasting with yellow Freebird interior detailing and chevron-patterned waterproofing seal tape underneath. Fit adjustability comes via Velcro tabs and belt loops at the waist, and storage is handled by thigh pockets with YKK water-repellent zippers, plus a hidden lycra jersey pocket inside the right thigh. Full-length side leg openings serve three purposes: drop-sit functionality, ventilation, and easy boot entry, all secured with YKK water-repellent zippers. Stretch snow gaiters with an elastic silicone support band and adjustable flap seal out snow at the cuff, and lower leg reinforcements add durability where abrasion is most likely.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Black Crows Freebird Xpore Pant as a well-executed, touring-focused shell that balances lightness, breathability, and solid waterproofing. The Xpore membrane earns strong marks for keeping out rain and snow, and the pant's slim, ergonomic cut is widely appreciated, though it runs true to size rather than overly European. Practical details get high marks too, including full-length side leg openings for ventilation and drop-sit access, skin-friendly pockets, and functional stretch gaiters. The most common criticisms center on the fabric feeling somewhat stiff and not especially supple, waterproofing that is reliable but falls short of Gore-Tex Pro in heavy conditions, and a premium price point that some find hard to justify.
