About this product
The Rab Microlight Vest is a men's insulated gilet built entirely from recycled materials, making it a considered choice for weight-conscious mountain layering. The outer shell is a recycled 30D nylon Pertex Quantum ripstop fabric (50g/m) treated with a DWR finish, while the lining uses a lighter recycled 20D nylon (38g/m). Both the outer and lining are 100% recycled polyamide. Warmth comes from recycled 700 fill-power down treated with a Nikwax hydrophobic finish, giving it meaningful moisture resistance. A zoned micro and nano baffle stitch-through construction keeps the insulation evenly distributed without adding bulk. The collar is down-filled and close-fitting for neck warmth, and the hem features a drawcord for a tailored fit. Storage includes two YKK-zipped hand pockets and a large zipped chest pocket. The vest packs down compactly and is reported by customers to fit true to size.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Rab Microlight Vest for its impressive warmth-to-weight ratio, excellent packability, and premium build quality. The Pertex Quantum shell and Nikwax hydrophobic down treatment earn repeated compliments for weather resistance and durability. Many users highlight its versatility as a layering piece under a shell or jacket, and its clean, stylish look makes it equally suitable for town and trail use. Expert testers have named it a top pick among men's down vests. The most common criticisms are the premium price point and inconsistent sizing, with some users finding it runs small or noting a big jump between adjacent sizes. A few reviewers also note that, like most down products, performance can suffer in very wet conditions.
