About this product
The Patagonia R2 TechFace Jacket is a men's cold-weather crosslayer built for shifting mountain conditions, balancing warmth, breathability, and weather resistance in a slim-fitting silhouette. The outer shell is constructed from a 7.9-oz solution-dyed double-weave fabric composed of 92% recycled polyester and 8% elastane, treated with a PFC-free DWR finish to shed light moisture without relying on perfluorinated chemicals. The high-loft construction sits soft against the skin while the face fabric resists abrasion and everyday wear. A fitted, under-the-helmet hood features partial elastic binding for a secure, streamlined feel. Three zippered pockets, including a left-chest pocket and two high handwarmer pockets, are designed to remain accessible under a harness or pack. Snag-resistant, low-bulk cuffs and partial hem binding help retain heat at the extremities. The fabric carries Bluesign approval, and the jacket is Fair Trade Certified sewn.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Patagonia R2 TechFace Jacket for its impressive warmth-to-breathability ratio, crediting the grid fleece interior for wicking moisture while the stretchy TechFace shell resists wind and light precipitation. The abundant pocket layout, including chest pockets accessible under a pack hip belt and interior drop-in pockets, draws frequent compliments. Experts and users alike highlight its versatility as both a standalone layer and a midlayer for cold, active pursuits. The most common criticisms center on fit: some find the cut boxy and note the absence of a hem drawcord makes it hang loosely, particularly on taller or leaner builds. A few reviewers also note the jacket is too warm for milder temperatures and that the weather resistance, while useful, falls short of true waterproofing. Price is occasionally flagged as a barrier.
